Investerings pyramiden

Mange fokusere på at have NOOS varer på lager til deres kunder og bliver der købt ekstra ind på andre kollektionsvarer, så bruges der ofte ikke særligt meget tid på at beregne potentialet.

Jeg vælger at dele varerne op i 4 typer, afhængig af levetiden og dermed også muligheden for at genkøbe varen fra leverandøren.

NOOS: Her har vi ofte en masse historik som kan bruges til at forecaste det fremtidige salg, vi kan booke metervarer og kapacitet.

Seasonal: ved at planlægge muligheden for genbestillinger med jeres leverandører og arbejde med metervare- og kapacitetsbookninger så er der ofte mulighed for at nå at genbestille dem i sæsonen.

Limited: Det er varer som vi ikke kan nå at genbestille, men hvor man godt kan optimere indkøbet ved at analysere de kunder der har købt varen og tidligere salgshastighed på sammenlignelige varer.

Kollektion: Her købes blot det der er solgt og det skal derfor ikke planlægges.

Udnyttelse af data til planning

Ved de fleste brands jeg har besøgt, så foregår planning ved at trække forskellige rapporter ud fra ERP systemet og manuelt forsøge at komme frem til den rigtige ordremængde og størrelsesfordeling.

For mange er dette kompliceret og tidskrævende og gør at der ikke kigges ofte nok på om der skal laves genbestillinger. Samtidig giver det sjældent et nemt overblik over fremtidige indkøb, og det mangler også mulighederne for at arbejde effektivt med metervare- og kapacitetsbookninger.

Jeg kan både hjælpe med system anbefalinger og system implementering, men hvis I ikke føler jer klar til at implementere en IT løsning kan jeg også hjælpe med at optimere brugen af Excel til jeres planning.

Data availability

To be able to keep planning simple and fast it is important to have all needed data available at all times. Often people spend way too much time on finding and analyzing data and too little time on analysing what the right decision is. 

Planning in fashion is all about being able to react as fast as possible with as few resources as possible.

Lead-time optimization

A lot of companies does not work enough on shortening their lead-times, which we believe is crusioal for textil companies if they want to optimize their inventory.

Why rent a planner?

For a lot of textile companies, the important task of planning the purchase of product that hasn´t been sold on collections, are often done either by management, sales or the buying team, spending only little time on analyzing the needs and possibilities of the products.

You may not feel like there is a need for a full time planner, but the decisions taken on these purchases are some of the most important decisions in you company. There is so much money to be gained by having enough of your best products, and at the same time avoiding overstock securing a low mark-down on your sales.

Missed opportunities

By dividing products by lifetime, you will have different opportunities for optimizing the purchase you wish to make, which has not been sold on collections. If you have not invested in having a planner, time is often not there to analyze the opportunities within each product type and decision will not be as good as they can be.

Never Out Of Stock

NOOS is often a key source of revenue not just for the brand but especially also for the retailers, wholesalers and onliners. As we all have difficulties to predict the future sales of NOOS, it is very important to be able to react as fast as possible to any changes in sales or deliveries.

Seasonal products

One of the areas where most textile brands are missing out, is to make re-orders on their seasonal products. If you ask you customers, they would very often like to be able to replenish on their bestselling seasonal products, helping them to have an optimal assortment and thereby optimize the revenue and minimize the mark down on these products.

A lot of brands do not believe it is possible to plan extra deliveries for these types of products, but it is… you just have to work very structured with planning you possible re-orders.

  • React weekly to sales, preferably from stores through EDI
  • Reserve capacity and inform your supplier when you will be placing the next order
  • Secure fabric is ready at the factory for re-orders
  • Book fabric possible to use on multiple seasonal products
  • Plan future collections so fabric also can be used here

Limited products

For the product having a lifetime below 3 months, it is often very hard to do re-orders due to production leadtimes. But even if reorders are hard to plan, then the quantities you buy extra when placing the order for the collection can be planned better.

After the collection is finished selling, a lot of brands choose to place 10%, 20% maybe 30% extra on the best sold products, but do this without analyzing the available sales data. If you secure to have standard reports and work with the areas below, you can improve your investments on these products.

  • Who has bought the styles/colors on this collection
  • How often does these customers reorder from your stock
  • How did you sell on similar products last year
  • How was your sales Pre-collection, Pre-delivery, In-season
  • Did you have enough for the season or too much being marked down
